Ad Infinitum; a World War One horror title that looks terrifying!

Atmospheric, chilling and mysterious

Ad Infinitum

With Battlefield 1Battalion 1944 and Call of Duty: WWII, there seems to be something of a World War reprisal. This trend is definitely continuing with Ad Infinitum, though this is certainly a different take on the World War setting.

Ad Infinitum‘s description calls it “an atmospheric single-player horror game, which puts you into a World War I setting seen through a first-person perspective.” I don’t know about you, but I’m sold already.

If you’re unsure as to what that might look like you’re in luck. StrixLab have made an official reveal trailer available on YouTube for your viewing pleasure:

Not only does it look spectacular but it looks incredibly atmospheric. I think the World War One theatre is a great pick for the setting; the claustrophobia of the trenches, and the threats from all around (yourself, the enemy, the weather, the environment). I certainly have many a question about this game. Although the trailer was first released in 2015, this is the first time I have seen this game. It’s looking great to me.

Developers, StrixLab, outline the premise of Ad Infinitum on their website:

“You find yourself in the trenches of a forlorn battlefield where vicious creatures lurk in the shadows. Solve challenging puzzles to clear pathways and avoid deadly traps and sneak through a maze of trenches to hide from the manifested horrors of war.”

The game is currently available to track on Steam Greenlight. There aren’t many details outside of those which we have already listed above. I hope we get to play this soon and I am personally hoping that this comes to consoles too. However, I will wait patiently if it means the end product is as good as the trailer makes it look. StrixLab are only a small development team. Six people working in Hamburg, Germany, so we might be in for a bit of wait. In their latest update, they detail how they are working on a pre-alpha demo.
