The Banner Saga series of games have always been building towards a final chapter and true to their word, Stoic Studios have presented us with a new Kickstarter aiming to craft the epic climax that the trilogy truly deserves. Some may remember the second title being part of the Games with Gold program on Xbox One sometime last year but for those unfamiliar, here’s a quick overview straight from the Kickstarter page:
Steel your nerves, step forth into the approaching abyss. Cross the threshold from daylight without end into untold darkness. Warped lands within threaten your sanity, and a writhing wyrm tests your mettle. But here, in the darkness, is where secrets are brought to light and motives are made clear. Are your friends who they claim to be? They all look to you. What story will your banner tell?
Banner Saga 3 is the highly anticipated final game of an award winning trilogy. It’s a role-playing game merged with turn-based strategy, wrapped into an adventure mini-series about Vikings.
There’s obviously alot of interest in the project. As a result, over half of the requested amount is in the hands of the developers already. With 41 days left on the campaign, it’s likely we’ll see a positive outcome once it concludes. Banner Saga 3 is aiming for a late 2018 release date on PC. While Stoic have stated that the Kickstarter is only for that version, they haven’t ruled out bringing it to other platforms at a later date.
