Benedict Wong Confirmed for Avengers: Infinity War

Although details regarding Infinity War are particularly sparse at the moment outside of obvious confirmed appearances of The Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange. Well, it appears it’s time to add another confirmed appearance to the list, as the character of Wong, played by Benedict Wong (he even has the character name in HIS name!), will have a role in the film.

Benedict Wong, in an interview with ComicBook.com, discussed the character of Wong and whether or not he’d be interested in playing him in additional films. Wong seemed certainly game for any future movies with the character, with one special concrete confirmation that he was willing to share:

“I’m thrilled I’m going to be in Infinity War. I’m looking forward to, I’ll tell you that one first.”

The interview continued onward, but Wong was unfortunately unable to share much more than that (it seems that he too is kept in the dark with Marvel’s big plans). Still, considering how little we actually know about Infinity War, it’s good to know that Dr. Strange won’t be an afterthought in the grand scheme of things (although there was little reason to believe that would be the case) as not only will Strange be present, but his faithful assistant will be right there with him as well.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, we still have to meet the character of Wong in the upcoming Doctor Strange, coming to theaters nationwide November 4th. I’m sure I’m not the only one looking forward to Marvel experimenting with something that’s truly extraordinary and outside of the typical formula. Here’s hoping that with the leadership of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Strange (and the help of good ol’ Wong), Doctor Strange can stand out amongst the rest of the MCU’s previous solo movies and make a name for itself.
