The CEO of Activision has been getting chatty this week discussing the possibility of remastered Modern Warfare games, potentially even a collection.
According to an interview conducted with GameInformer, Activision say that they have been thinking and talking about it a lot.
Not only are they considering Modern Warfare but Black Ops 1 got a mention too, which if that comes with zombies co-op you won’t see me online playing anything else for quite some time.
Apparently the hold up in making an announcement about this is due to the need for developers and resources to be found so that they can make this happen as obviously their current focus is on new and upcoming titles.
Activision CEO Hirshberg has said that:
“If done well, I think remasters can be great. You talk about nostalgia, and people have such connection to the games they love from the last cycle. They want to see what it would look like if someone did it right for this cycle. It’s always the opportunity cost, meaning we need everybody we can get to make the content we’re already committed to for our new games. It’s always a matter of finding great people to do that work. I would love to play Modern Warfare 1 or the original Black Ops. There’s certainly a deep well there. No announcements, but it’s something we talk about and think about a lot.”
So what do you think? I know the Call of Duty fans have been asking for the game to return to its original roots for quiet some time, instead of them molding new releases to do that would you be happy with remasters of the classics that you loved to play on the current gen consoles?
I know one question many of you will be asking is “What about Call of Duty 4?”
Well we have reached out to Activision about this to find out if this “deep well” that Hirshberg talked about includes CoD 4 and I will let you know what they come back with.
