Dishonored 2: Clockwork Mansion Gameplay Trailer Released

Doesn't matter what you're doing, you have 9 minutes to watch this new footage

Stop everything you’re doing! Now, I mean it you, yes you…Andrew (I presume at some point an Andrew will read this). There’s a new Dishonored 2 gameplay trailer been released over on Bethesda’s YouTube channel and unless you’re avoiding everything about it, set aside nine minutes and feast your eyes on the ‘Clockwork Mansion’ in all its spectacular glory. It looks bloody ace!

The gameplay trailer sees Emily, one of the two playable characters in Dishonored 2 (the other being Corvo, the original protagonist from the original game), enter the ‘Clockwork Mansion’ in search of her next target. In there we are treated to a glimpse of one of Dishonored 2’s new environments and it looks packed with detail. Lots of mechanisms and electricity surges about as you enter and you come face to face with a new enemy, the ‘Clockwork Soldiers’ who certainly look like they take a fair ol’ beating.

The gameplay trailer demo’s some of Emily’s abilities in Dishonored 2:

  • Shadow walk – a stealthy and sinister movement ability, allowing Emily to sneak up on enemies and dispose of them quickly.
  • Domino – a super cool ability, you highlight multiple enemies and they all become linked, what happens to one (in this case, cutting of their head) happens to all, i.e. they’re all decapitated.
  • Far Reach – allows you to target a location and pull yourself over quickly.
  • Doppelganger – an ability that lets you summon a ‘”shade” of yourself which attacks and attracts enemies.

The play through in the trailer is deemed ‘High Chaos’ meaning that the gameplay style is more about the full on assault, as opposed to the sneaky stealthy ‘Low Chaos’ play style. This helps explain the decapitations, use of mines and general commotion.

Dishonored 2 releases on November and it can’t come soon enough. If, like me, you can’t wait, there is a prequel story available in the novel Dishonored: The Corroded Man that might hold you over until the game’s release.
