Dishonored 2 to Launch with Substantial Day One Patch

A touch more whale oil needed to add to the magic

Another high-profile release, another day one patch.

It has been confirmed by Press Start that Dishonored 2, by Arkane Studios, will come with a 9GB patch upon its release.

As I discussed in the article on Titanfall 2’s day one patch (of much smaller size in 88MB), I personally welcome day one patches, providing they are improving and developing the experience we are going to have. To me it shows there is continued effort from developers to do their utmost to deliver the best experience possible after the game has gone gold. Past the point of no return where changes to the code can be made before it is printed onto discs.

There are currently no details as to what is included in the patch and what it is intended to address.

Given the high-profile and coverage surrounding Bethesda’s newest release, it makes sense that as much as possible is done to ensure the game is at its optimum performance. Of course, this may help with reviews and the general experience, which may explain why review codes are only being sent out very close to release dates.

I am rather excited for this game, so I am happy to accept something that is going to make it better.

Dishonored 2 releases November 11th on Xbox One, PC and PS4.
