EA has removed Star Wars Battlefront II’s microtransactions, at least for a while

A fair playing ground again?

Much has been made over the past couple of weeks regarding Star Wars Battlefront II‘s microtransactions. The community and critical response on Twitter, Reddit and elsewhere has been nothing short of overwhelmingly negative. It appears that EA has in fact taken notice, as they just issued a message here regarding the microtransactions.

Here’s the abridged Twitter version: 

The use of the phrase “at a later date” notwithstanding, this is fantastic news. It’s also concrete proof that making your voice heard can in fact bring results. Microtransactions may be here to stay in gaming however, that doesn’t mean we can’t push back against predatory practices. We’ll have to keep an eye on exactly what happens in the future but in the meantime, thank you for listening EA. More importantly, thank you gamers for making your opinions known.
