Epic Games’ New Real Time 3D Experience Demonstrated

‘Ecosystem’ is something we are hearing repeatedly when talking about Microsoft and their integration between the Xbox One and Windows 10, but we don’t hear too much about it when it comes to mobile devices. It may surprise you to know that the Android ecosystem is having a revolution of its own, all made possible by the power of the Unreal Engine 4 and the Vulkan API.

Epic Games presented their new real-time 3D experience at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event in Barcelona earlier today. “ProtoStar” harnesses the power of the Unreal Engine 4 along with the Vulkan API and allows them to render many more items at the same time up to 4 times faster than previously.

Niklas Smedberg, Senior Graphics Programmer for Epic Games, states that “we want to set a new bar for real-time graphics” and from watching the videos below you can see they have certainly achieved that.

The Unreal Engine 4 is free to all so if you are currently considering your next development project you may want to take some time to look into these new advancements in technology to see how they can benefit you and the end-user experience.
