Final Fantasy VII Remake’s main cast “Almost finished recording” says producer

As fans wait for more news about Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake, game producer Yoshinori Kitase has let everyone know that the voice recording process has gone well so far. So well in fact that the main cast is “almost finished.” In a recent interview with Dengeki PlayStation, Kitase discussed the process of taking on a remake of this caliber.

“A remake of Final Fantasy VII required substantial preparedness,” Kitase told Dengeki PlayStation. “The voice actors have almost finished voice recording of the main story. Fans may have the image of the Cloud from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, but since this is the ‘prime’ Cloud from before Advent Children, the performance may feel fresh.”

Ever since the E3 2015 reveal, Square Enix has largely remained quiet with most Final Fantasy VII Remake news. Square Enix and the dev team likely unveiled the project sooner than they should’ve, but the progress seems steady. Also, since voice-work’s done further down the development cycle, we’re likely getting some new gameplay footage sooner rather than later. Then again, maybe Square Enix will hoard footage for another year or so just for laughs. You never know what they’ll do with their precious Final Fantasy footage.

In the meantime, stay tuned with RGM and stay updated on the inevitably-prolonged saga that is FFVII‘s development cycle. If you missed it before, this is the latest gameplay footage (shown at PSX 2015):
