Forza Horizon and DLC to be Removed from Xbox Store

The original game in the series won't be available after October 20th

With the triumphant release of Forza Horizon 3, this news may seem odd, but it appears that the original Forza Horizon and it’s DLC is about to be removed from sale off of the Xbox Store as of next month.

AR12 Gaming detailed the surprising news that Microsoft have declared the game to have reached its “End of Life” status, meaning that the game has run its course. Given that this is not standard practice for their games (though they did previously remove Forza 4I DLC without warning previously), there is probably something going on that is out of their control, as AR12 Gaming suggest, it could be down to licencing relating to some advertising or some of the music etc. But given that the game is only four years old, is it a bit soon for it be at the “end of its life”?

Anyone one who has the game registered to their gamertag will still be able to access the game even after it has been pulled from the store, including the DLC. This applies to both Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners, as the game was recently added to the backwards compatibility program when it was free with September’s Games with Gold. So if you’re planning on playing it or grabbing the DLC, you have less than a month to do it.

Of course, the base game will still be available physically. Though with this news, the price of it may go up as people snap up spare second hand copies (seen it happen plenty in the past).

Both the game and any extra downloadable content will be removed from sale as of October 20th.

Did you pick up Forza Horizon last month? Will you be rushing to get this or the DLC before it’s removed? Do you think this practice is acceptable? Let us know in the comments below or on the RGM Forums.
