Frostpunk gets debut gameplay trailer and there’s snow hope

This game looks chilling

debut gameplay trailer

Frostpunk is a game about hope and survival. Set in a seemingly endless arctic tundra, the game is about building a city to weather the weather. It is a city builder and one of “society survival” from the developers of the harrowing moral sim This War of Mine, 11 Bit Studios.

Keeping with the cold theme, you must make decisions that will see you survive for as long as possible. To help explore these decisions, 11 Bit have unveiled the debut gameplay trailer for Frostpunk, showing a taster of what to expect. Including some of the tough decisions you might have to make so your populace survive.

Check out the debut gameplay trailer below:

11 Bit Studios describe Frostpunk below:

“In an ultimately frozen world, people develop steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. The city ruler has to manage both the inhabitants and the infrastracture the citizens live in. Leader’s tactical skills face challenges, frequently questioning morality and the basic foundation of what we consider an organized society. Here optimization and resource management often clash with empathy and thoughtful decision-making. While city and society management consume most of the ruler’s time, at some point exploration of outside world is necessary to understand its history and present state.

What decisions will you make so the society can survive? What will you do when pushed to the limits? And… …who will you become in the process?”

I’m really loving the look of this. It seems to carry over the tough moral dilemma’s of This War of Mine and introduce them into a new genre.

Frostpunk currently does not have a release date but is lined up to release on PC. 11 Bit Studios have acknowledged in the comments of this trailer that there are requests to release Frostpunk on consoles. However, they said they cannot commit to a console release at this time and are currently focusing on the PC version.

You can add Frostpunk to your Steam Wishlist to stay up to date on the game.
