Gears of War 4 is Getting a Huge Update

Over the course of March, Gears of War 4 is getting several new features, improvements and other additions. Liam Ashley, the Community Manager for The Coalition, explained the various additions on the Xbox Wire. Here’s a quick summary of everything coming over March.

First, two new maps are being added. One, Diner, is completely new and designed for claustrophobic, close-quarters combat. A different style map, this hopefully provides a different experience than usual Gears matches. The second, Old Town, returns from Gears of War 3 with mixed-up weapon spawns and a snowy UIR theme. These maps are available to Season Pass holders right now, however, they’ll be open to everyone on March 14th.

Next, a widely requested feature is making its way into the game. Ranked lobbies are being added for Core and Competitive playlists, which means no more manually searching for a new match after every game. Players can also customize their characters and set new active bounties while waiting for a new game to start. Liam explains that new tweaks are coming to the Core and Competitive modes, however there isn’t any information on exactly what they are quite yet.

To what I imagine will be the joy of many players, the Gnasher is being tweaked. The shotgun should hopefully no longer have any weird inconsistency problems. If, however, you want a detailed look at the change, they’ve helpfully provided a link here.

To cap things off, new Horde and Versus events will be held throughout March.

It’s great to see The Coalition continuing to support Gears of War 4 like this. If you haven’t dived in yet, this might be the perfect time to do so. Hopefully this steady stream of updates and new features continues throughout the next few months.
