So it seems there may be a new a Tomb Raider on the way.
Of course that in itself is probably not surprising. The reboot of Lara Croft has seemingly been nothing but positive (more or less). With Tomb Raider and sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider being among some of the best (in my opinion) in the series.
Given that Eidos and Square Enix have recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of Lara Croft and her escapades, it would make sense that a new title would be in development for a future release, especially given the critical acclaim the previous titles have garnered.
I was under the impression we would have to wait a while to hear more about the next in the series, but it seems we information has begun to drip through already…well leak, really.
The hastily snapped image was acquired by a keen-eyed individual riding the subway in Montreal as he clocked someone working on their laptop with the screen open on what Kotaku reports as a screen on visuals for an upcoming Tomb Raider game titled Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
The title seems legit enough, though we obviously can’t confirm until Square Enix confirm either way. What is interesting is that this snap may indicate that Crystal Dynamics, masterminds behind the brilliant reboot and the sequel may not be leading the charge with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Kotaku report that there are rumors indicating Eidos Montreal (studio behind Thief and the recently released Deus Ex: Mankind Divided).
One thing is probably confirmed, that this particular individual may not be working on the new Tomb Raider game for much longer.
