It looks like we will have to wait a bit longer for the second installment of the Justice League, but for good reason.

batman_ben_affleckReported by ScreenRant, Ben Affleck’s solo batman movie, The Batman which he will be writing, directing, and starring in will now be placed in between the Justice League movies. There are many reasons as to why Warner Brothers would push back the second Justice Leauge movie, but the two main factors seem to be the positive reception to Ben Affleck’s Batman being the only resounding high note from Batman V. Superman, and the push back will give Zach Synder more time with Justice Leauge 2.

With the push back this gives more weight to the rumors of The Batman’s release date sitting at June 14th, 2019 but Affleck himself confirmed this week that he has yet to finish the script.

The DCEU will be looking for some much needed critical success with its upcoming projects Wonder Woman and Justice League, after the poor reception of BvS and Suicide Squad. Despite each of the movie being considered messy by critics and divisive by fans both BvS and Suicide Squad were a financial success but not much else.

Although the now “Batfleck” was a bright spot in BvS many were taken back by Zach Synder’s portrayal of the Dark Knight by seemingly betraying everything the character once stood for with his no guns and no murder motif abandoned in the movie. Many fans are looking forward to seeing Affleck’s take on the character and hoping that he is brought back closer to his roots for the film.

Not much has been revealed for the story of The Batman but we do know that Joe Manganiello will be starring as Deathstroke to counter Batman, giving the movie a more human pretense then the CG DoomsDay did in BvS. We also know that J.K. Simmons will be giving us the second look (after Justice League) at the DCEU’s Commissioner Gordon and that Jeremy Irons is set to reprise the role of Alfred.

Are you looking forward to The Batman? Do you think Deathstroke will make a good movie villain? Let us know in the comments below, the RGM Forums or on Twitter.
