Microsoft Announces New ‘Minecraft Favourites’ Xbox One S Bundle

The 'Minecraft Favourites' bundle adds to the growing selection of Xbox One S bundles coming soon.

It was only a matter of time. Given Microsoft’s high profile acquisition of Mojang Games in 2015 for nearly $2.5 billion dollars, it would make sense that there would eventually be an Xbox One Minecraft bundle, collecting the phenomenon together with Microsoft’s shiny new baby. And with that in mind, it makes even more sense, that it be when there’s a newer shinier baby to tout and positive press around said baby too.

The Xbox One S has reportedly been rather fortuitous for Microsoft, achieving increased sales and high demand across the board, the 2TB model in particular selling out rather quickly. It was also involved in the recent “mine’s better than yours” spat with Sony after they announced the PlayStation Pro a couple of weeks ago, conveniently reminding everyone of it’s 4K Blu-ray capabilities immediately after Sony announced the PS4 Pro would be missing that particular feature (but that’s a debate for another article).

Available to purchase now in the U.S at $299.99 from the Microsoft Store, the ‘Minecraft Favourites’ bundle includes:

  • Xbox One S – 500GB console in white including all that 4K and HDR goodness.
  • Xbox One S wireless controller – the newer controller has an increased range and support for PCs via Bluetooth.
  • Minecraft: Xbox One Edition – full game as digital download.
  • Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, Builder’s Pack – a digital download code that includes a variety of DLC texture packs including: Biome Settlers Skin Pack, Cartoon Texture Pack, Plastic Texture Pack, Pattern Texture Pack and the Greek Mythology Mash-Up.
  • Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, Favourites Pack – a digital download code that includes another set of DLC packs including: Festive Mash-Up Pack, Halo Mash-Up Pack, Fantasy Texture Pack, Battle & Beasts Skin Pack and the Battle & Beats 2 Skin Pack.
  • Minecraft Windows 10 beta – a download code for the beta version of the Windows 10 edition of the game.
  • 14 days Xbox Live Gold trial.

The ‘Minecraft Favourites Bundle’ will be available to purchase in Europe and the U.K from October 11th with Australia and New Zealand getting it on November 1st. Asia and Latin America’s date for this bundles release is to be confirmed.

It’s a shame the Minecraft: Story Mode game isn’t included in this bundle, as it is a thoroughly enjoyable episodic game from TellTale games.

So what do you think? Are you tempted to upgrade or are you holding off for the Gears of War 4 bundle? Or the Battlefield One bundle? FIFA 17? There are a few to chose from. As ever, let us know your thoughts in the comments below or on the RGM Forums.
