Minecraft: Wii U Edition gets a release date

Minecraft: Wii U Edition is official and headed to Nintendo’s home console with a release date set for December 17th. Minecraft: Wii U Edition will come with multiple add-on content packs and it is reported that Nintendo and Mojang are collaborating on new content specifically for Nintendo fans that will be released at a later date.

Minecraft: Wii U Edition will also feature off-TV play, where players can continue to play the game one their Wii U game pad if another family member wants to watch TV or even play another console. The Wii U edition of Minecraft also comes with some of the most current and popular add-on content packs such as:

  • Battle & Beasts Skin Pack
  • Battle & Beasts 2 Skin Pack
  • Natural Texture Pack
  • City Texture Pack
  • Fantasy Texture Pack
  • Festive Mash-up Pack

Players will also be able to purchase 16 additional add-on packs to expand the experience. The add-on packs will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop and here are a some of the packs that will be available at launch:
