Some huge news has just arrived thanks to IGN. A Witcher TV show is in development! This series will follow the plot of the books, which take place before the games developed by CD Projekt Red. Author, who wrote the sage, is serving as a creative consultant. Sapkowski stated that "I'm thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing."
Sean Daniel and Jason Brown, who previously worked on The Expanse, are serving as executive producers. They explained that “The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”
That's not all though. Tomas Baginski, who directed the intro cinematics for each of The Witcher games, will be directing at least one episode per season.
As a huge Witcher fan, this is incredibly exciting stuff. Obviously I'm a bit nervous about the adaption of some of my favorite books. However, I'm optimistic given the talents working on this. Hopefully we'll get some casting and release date schedules soon.
