CD Projekt has come a long way as a company. Since their work on the first Witcher title, which released in 2007 after five years of development, they’ve grown from a 15 person studio to 370 employees. After the success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it was revealed they are receiving funding from the Polish government to work on several projects. Thanks to a post on Reddit, we now have some more details as to the inner workings of these projects. In addition, it gives insight into CD Projekt Red’s government grants.

The grants are going to four projects all related to game development: seamless multiplayer, cinematic feel, animation excellence and city creation. Interestingly enough, these four projects started back in 2016 and are slated to be completed by June 2019. However, CD Projekt can apply to have the finish dates moved back. I think it’s fair to assume these projects are design elements being incorporated into their upcoming game, Cyberpunk 2077.
Based on how they are still hiring contractors for these projects, the game will probably not be releasing anytime soon. However, we could always get a teaser at this year’s E3. Hopefully we aren’t waiting too long before they start to show the game off.
