New Prey Dev Video Shows Off How Yu Can Affect Your Game

Bioshock + Dishonored in space!

Prey

With all the talk of Mass Effect: Andromeda and recent release of the Switch it’s easy to forget other upcoming titles. Well now that the big releases have come and gone, it’s time to look forward. Prey is one of those titles and is coming in just over a month’s time. And it really, really deserves your attention.

If you’re unfamiliar with Prey let us remind you. It is a reimagining of sorts, taking the initial concept of the 3D Realms title from 2006 and giving it a good going over. Now in the hands of Arkane Studios, the creators and developers behind the incredible Dishonored series, Prey is looking fairly excellent too. With the release drawing ever closer, the developers are releasing insights into the game. The newest has a look at the different choices you can make in the game and how that might affect how the game treats you.

After watching this my hype levels certainly went up (maybe over 9000?!?!). To me it’s looking like a cross between Bioshock and Dishonored, but in space! How can that not be an awesome concept??? Some of the really intriguing stuff that is spoke of in the video is how you embrace (or don’t) the “alien powers”. The more you use and develop the alien powers, the more the aliens are aware of you. They are then more frequent throughout the game.

Presumably this will encourage you to play in a multitude of ways and they spoke of various “endgames”. To me this means your play style will affect the overall outcome in the end. In the same way your “chaos” affected you outcome in the Dishonored series.

Prey releases on Xbox One, PC and PS4 on May 5th 2017. You can find out more on the official site.

I am really looking forward to adopting the guise of Morgan Yu. Exploring this space station and fighting off the Typhon threat looks fairly immense. What do you make of Prey?
