New Trailer for Sci-fi Action Game ‘Beacon’

Beacon, an upcoming science fiction top down shooter has received a fantastic new gameplay trailer on YouTube. Developed by Monothetic, the title sees players take the role of a lost explorer who has crashed on a hostile planet and must find an emergency distress beacon in order to escape certain death at the hands (and claws) of the inhospitable locals.

Boasting a very stylish neon drenched aesthetic, Beacon takes place on randomly generated levels and allows gamers to gather new weapons and items to assist them in their struggle for survival. Also, when death inevitably strikes, DNA can be gathered from creatures killed and then applied to your own, granting special boosts to stats as well as mutations that will alter the very nature of gameplay.

Take a look at the gameplay trailer below.

Looks great! Beacon has no concrete release date as yet but you can keep up to date on development at the Monothetic blog or follow them on Twitter. While it is only confirmed for PC and Xbox One at the moment, the company has stated they are open to bringing Beacon to other platforms.
