PlayStation Now is Going to PS4 and PC Only
The service is being dropped on all but two platforms

PlayStation Now is a service that allows users to stream PS3 games to various devices. With a subscription, you can, for example, stream God of War 2 to your PC. However, it looks like PlayStation Now is only going to be available to a somewhat smaller audience from here on. On the PlayStation Blog, it has been confirmed that PlayStation Now is going to PS4 and PC only. On August 15 this year, the following platforms will no longer be supported.

  • PlayStation 3
  • PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV
  • 2013, 2014, 2015 Sony Bravia TV models
  • Sony Blu-ray player models
  • Samsung TV models

Additionally, you won’t be able to use PS Now through Sony Bravia 2016 model TVs starting April 1 this year. This is definitely disappointing and a bit odd. One possible explanation is that there aren’t that many users on these other platforms, or at least, not enough to be profitable. A full list of the current games is available here. If Sony is doubling down on the PS4 and PC userbases, hopefully they have more titles coming in the near future. The current subscription price is $99.99 for a year of access, so having an expansive library is a must. Honestly, a reduced price wouldn’t hurt either. In any case, we’ll have to wait and see just what future updates are in store.
