PS Plus is Not Required for No Man’s Sky

The much-anticipated indie title, No Man’s Sky, is set to launch for PlayStation 4 and PC in August. There is a multiplayer component, however, the Playstation Store and Steam Store both list the game as a single player experience. The reason for this is due to the vastness of the galaxy you can explore. Hello Games has stated the odds of actually running into a friend while playing is extremely unlikely. Since multiplayer is an unlikely scenario, Sony addressed Game Informer Australia and stated that they will not require PS Plus in order to play the game online. Here is the official quote:

PS Plus won’t be a requirement to play online, however you will need to connected to the internet for your discoveries to register with the universal atlas,”

The universal atlas is a mechanic in the game that let’s players leave a marker while exploring the galaxy. No Man’s Sky is set to release on August 9th, allowing players to live out their dreams of space exploration in an unknown world.
