Resident Evil 7 – Leaked info from ESRB website reveals combat details and Ethan…

Reddit can be a great place to find little nuggets of information, sometimes you might find a sneaky little screenshot, sometimes you might find a link to a newly released game trailer, and sometimes you might find some accidentally released information on a game that was swiftly removed – but not before Reddit had a hold of it.

The information today, comes through Redditor smexyfish, who managed to copy some information and post to Reddit, that was posted onto the ESRB website relating to Resident Evil 7: biohazard but was taken down very soon after. The information states:

Content Descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language

Rating Summary: This is a survival-horror game in which players assume the role of Ethan, a man searching for his missing wife in a derelict mansion. From a first-person perspective, players explore the environment and use pistols, shotguns, flamethrowers, explosives and chainsaws to kill mutant creatures. Combat is accompanied by realistic gunfire, screams of pain, and exaggerated blood-splatter effects. As players progress through the story, cutscenes can depict instances of gore and intense acts of violence: a character’s arm dismembered by a chainsaw; a man’s leg taken off at the knee with a shovel; a character impaled through the face with a shovel. Some areas also depict mutilated corpses with exposed organs/viscera. The words “f*k” and “sht” are heard in the dialogue.

All sounds pretty good, and the reveal that you will play as Ethan in Resident Evil 7: biohazard is just super. However, with the details on the actual ESRB site being completely removed for the time being, the information cannot be officially verified, but if true, it sounds like it’s going to be a fantastic gore-fest and being in first person will be a complete change for the Resident Evil franchise.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard is released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 24th, 2017.
