According to FragHero.com, an announcement for Fallout: New Vegas 2 could be coming this year, most likely at E3 2017. It would be easy to get hyped but then shrug this kind of rumor off, however the “insider source” has an impressive track record in the past 12 months, with them also revealing tha Rockstar Games were working on Red Dead Redemption 2 before it all kicked off, as well as hinting that The Last of Us 2 would also be announced in the weeks before it actually was.
Let’s look at the evidence, first there was quite a lot of rumors surrounding the possibility of Fallout: New Orleans, which Obsidian subtly debunked with a tweet…

Where rumors of Fallout: New Orleans lived, in the shadows perhaps work on New Vegas 2 was starting. Also, there was that time when one of the designers and writers of Fallout: New Vegas, Eric Fenstermaker, was asked on Twitter about doing another Fallout game…
@Skyook_Rider @Obsidian I’m always up for working on a Fallout. I think most of us generally are. Really fun property to work with.

Fallout: New Vegas 2 would be a natural next game in the Fallout series, with New Vegas being released 2 years after Fallout 3, it could be that this formula will happen again. Fallout: New Vegas was a massive hit, scoring consistent 9’s and 10’s across the board, and winning the Golden Joystick for RPG of the Year in 2011, so a sequel would undoubtedly be well received by gamers on all platforms and by that, I mean it would sell well! These developers and publishers are businesses first, and the bottom line is one of the biggest drivers in the industry.
Honestly? With the track record of this “source”, and with the winds blowing a little in that general direction, I think this is feasible to say the least. You could argue that predicting Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last of Us 2 were almost as pinned on as predicting a new Call of Duty game, and predicting FIFA 18 will be released in September 2017. Calculated predictions are predictions nonetheless, and the thought of Fallout: New Vegas 2 is not a far-fetched one. I suppose all we can say here is, watch this space…
