Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 Delayed

Highly anticipated sharp shooting game pushed into Spring 2017

It’s fairly common for games to suffer from delays. Hell it has been a practice that has gone on for years, I remember holding GTA: Vice Stories for the PSP in my hand two days before its release to learn that the game would be delayed another week, rather inexplicably.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, the latest in the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series, is the latest to fall foul of the dreaded delay, slipping from its original release date of January 27th 2017, to April 4th 2017. Developers CI Games stated that it was going to use the time for further optimization on the game and give it a bit of extra digital spit shine.

Reporting on this story, Next On Gaming have detailed that feedback has been very positive and tantamount to making the tough decision to delay the game. CEO of CI Games, Marek Tymiński said:

“We’re making an ambitious game and unfortunately still need an extra few months to make sure it will stand up to the expectations of the fans. Our goal is to ensure Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 runs smoothly on all platforms, and right now we still have some important work left on optimizing the game. This is our biggest project we’ve ever worked on and the entire team is pushing really hard to make the entire experience more polished. I really hope everyone will understand our decision and will wait the extra time to play something we’re excited about, and that will redefine our IP and the sniping genre as a whole. This is a new beginning for the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series.”

In this day and age, when games can often be improved via software updates after a games release, it is nice to see a developer putting in the extra effort to improve the game before release, as many more seem to be doing. Personally, I’d prefer waiting a few extra months to receive a better game than buy a buggy mess on release.sgw3_boxes_big
