Good news everybody! It's finally Friday, that most wonderful and beautiful day of the week. Work is over, playtime can truly start. As is the norm here at Real Game Media, it's time for us to recommend a game for you over the weekend. Usually these games are a little older. They might be a little obscure. However they might be blockbusting-cult-classics. Whatever game we recommend, it's going to be good. Considering the mid-season premier of The Walking Dead aired this week, the choice was simple. Ladies and gentlemen, Telltale Games - The Walking Dead: Season One. Check out the story trailer below.
First there were the comics, which are still going strong and still amazing. Then there was the AMC TV series, which is still going strong and is still amazing. Then there was this. Telltale Games immaculate, stand-alone story based on The Walking Dead comics. Then there was The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct which the less said about the better. For ease of reading (and of writing), "The Walking Dead" from now on will refer to the first season of the Telltale Games series.
You play as Lee Everett, a convicted murderer on his way to prison. On your way you start noticing a lot of police and seemingly a lot of erratic behavior. The police officer driving to you prison could have done with noticing what was going on a bit more, but then we wouldn't have the amazing story that is The Walking Dead.
Along the way you'll encounter some fascinating, brilliant and sometimes just irritating characters. From little Clementine, a girl you find and vow to look after right from the start. To Kenny, a love-him-or-hate-him kind of guy. Then there's Omid and Christa, a couple trying to make their way cross-country. Some of the more irritating characters include Lilly, a stuck up know-it-all and Larry, her overly aggressive and just unlikable father.
The Walking Dead is based on the comic books as opposed to the TV show, and even includes cameos from Hershel as well as Glenn. I can honestly say as well, that this game includes some genuinely heartfelt moments, as well as one of the most tear-jerking moments in modern video gaming history.
