splatoon 2's release date

Goods news everyone, following Nintendo’s most recent Nintendo Direct stream, we now know Splatoon 2‘s release date! On top of that, there is a whole host of new details about the upcoming third person shooter too!

First off, Splatoon 2 will release on July 21st!

So there’s only three months before we get our hands on the full release. If you were anything like me, your appetite was surely wet from the Global Test Fire. You can check out our impressions on the Global Test Fire here.

You can check out all the new details on Splatoon 2 from the Nintendo Direct stream right here:

If you’re life is too busy, we have a handy summary of some of the key points from the video below. I would recommend watching it at some point, however, it has a lot of character and is generally good fun.

  • Amiibos – the video details that Splatoon 2 will have Amiibo support (no surprise there). There will be three new Amiibos available on release: Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy and Inkling Squid. The Amiibos will provide you with a new character who you can use to customize with all the “fresh” unlocks you will get through playing. Splatoon will also support older Amiibos from the original title.
  • Salmon Run – Salmon Run is a new game mode for Splatoon 2. It is essentially the game’s version of Horde mode. Team up with four players and fight off waves of Salmonid enemies. Players can revive one another and must fight to collect the Power Eggs. Waves increase with difficulty and introduce bosses to battle as well. Sounds like a lot of fun.
  • Weird 80s Video – it is no doubt that Splatoon is all about the weirdness and character and this video has buckets of it (pun intended). Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean.

So there you have it. We have more details and a release date for Splatoon 2. With that and a release date for Arms now known, it won’t be long before we have some more exciting exclusives for our new Switchs. Who know’s we might have even put down Zelda by that point!
