Star Wars: Battlefront Now Free on Xbox One with EA Access

More laser blasts for your buck

EA Access continues to climb in value as a service since its launch in 2014. Star Wars: Battlefront released last year to great excitement, allowing players to experience the thrill of authentic battles and environments from the original trilogy. However, there was a touch of disappointment from those who were hoping for a focused single-player campaign. Now, if you have an Xbox One and an EA Access subscription, you can download and play Battlefront at no additional cost. Like any other games in the Access “Vault”, you’ll own the game for as long as you have a subscription.

Originally pitched to both Microsoft and Sony, only Microsoft accepted the offer of allowing the service on their platform. EA Access provides incredible saving values for Xbox One owners. For only $5 USD a month, you can own the full versions of Dragon Age: Inquisition, Titanfall, Battlefield 4, Dead Space, the entire Mass Effect trilogy to name a few; the latter two through backwards compatibility. EA Access members also get savings on any EA-developed games or DLC they purchase, as well as early access to some games. Earlier this year in January, a similar service called Origin Access was made available to PC players. While the games available in the Origin Vault are not the exact same, they provide similar benefit, with Titanfall, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4 and the Dragon Age trilogy all available to subscribers. There is currently no word if Battlefront will be coming to the Origin Access Vault.

If you weren’t thrilled at the lack of a singleplayer campaign and didn’t want to commit to a purchase on Battlefront but you currently subscribe to EA Access, this is a great opportunity to try it out and form your own opinion.
