Super Mario Run has been announced for iOS

During today’s Apple keynote, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto took the stage to announce Super Mario Run which will be coming to Apple devices later this year.

Super Mario Run is Nintendo’s take on the endless runner genre. When to you tap on the screen Mario will jump, hold down longer and he will jump even higher. Miyamoto also highlighted that the game is built with one handed use in mind, so it is commuter friendly or as he pointed out can be played while “eating a hamburger”.

Nintendo also announced Toad Rally Mode, where players can compete with their friends to beat each others high scores. The Toads you collect in the game also become a part of your very own customizable Mushroom Kingdom.

Super Mario Run will also have a one time pricing model so it appears that it will not include own game purchases. The game is set to release later in 2016, in time for the holidays.
