Super Mario Run is coming out December 5th, and it’ll cost you $9.99

It seems that if you want to play as everyone’s favorite plumber on your iOS device of choice, it’ll cost you a bit more than expected. Nintendo has confirmed that their latest venture into the mobile gaming market will come out within a month’s time, and it’ll be $9.99 for the full game. There will be a total of three different modes and players will get the chance to try them for free. However, if you want to keep playing, that’s where the fee comes in.

Nintendo also confirmed that the game will support multiple languages and be available in over 151 countries at launch.

The price does seem like a bit much for what appears to be an endless-runner kind of game, but once Nintendo releases some more footage, perhaps we can see what boosts that final price to a higher-than-expected cost. As some have pointed out, there have been console platformers adapted to this kind of format (Rayman in this case) and it has worked out quite well, so it’s probably best not to entirely dismiss Super Mario Run just yet.

To get a sense of how the game looks and plays, here’s some gameplay shown at an Apple event earlier this year:
