Tekken 7’s Release Date has Been Confirmed for June

A bit longer to wait, but not too long

There’s good news and there’s bad news. First off, there is a release date for Tekken 7. Secondly, and the bad news, it isn’t releasing during the originally projected ‘early 2017’.

Confirming the news, Eurogamer, detailed when the newest addition to the fighting series will be arriving. The games will release on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on June 2nd 2017.

Tekken 7 will add a special guest character to the game as a special preorder exclusive. Eliza, last seen in Tekken Revolution, will be returning to the series. Further to that, Street Fighter’s Akuma will be also be added to the roster. Akuma will get the full Tekken treatment and will have EX and super moves.

Eurogamer has also detailed that Tekken 7 will have a season pass, adding new stages, characters and a new games mode. The season pass will also include a 35 piece metallic armor set. Bandai Namco plan to reveal more details at a later date.

If you are a PS4 player of Tekken, good news, you will be in receipt of some exclusive content. PS4 players get exclusive costumes from Tekken 2 and Tekken 4 for characters Jin, Xiaoyu and King. Not only that, you will also get an exclusive ‘Jukebox mode’. Jukebox mode allows you create playlists of music from previous titles and set them up to play while you wail on your opponents!

What do you think to the delay? Although it’s only a few months, delaying the game may make sense from a commercial point of view. Given the lack of releases over the summer months June might be perfect to get some focused sales. Let us know what you think to the news below in the comments or on the RGM Forums or on Twitter.
