Titanfall 2 Receives Surprising Day One Patch

Respawn's new shooter gets minute patch in time for release

Day 1 patches are becoming more and more common place. After a game “goes gold” there is usually time for the developers to continue rigorous testing and squash any extra bugs they find during that extra time. They then release an update to quell any of these problems or add extra content.

Lately, games have been getting quite sizable Day One patches, some being over 10GB! It was noticed on Reddit that Titanfall 2 will also be getting a Day One, it drops in at a massive 88MB!

Yep, that’s not a typo. This was confirmed on Twitter by Vince Zampella, head honcho at Respawn:

This seems to bode well for Titanfall 2’s upcoming launch on Friday. It could mean that there hasn’t been much that needs tweaking out of the final release.

To put this in perspective, here are some recent Day One updates, courtesy of Reddit, for other titles:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Day One patch: 2.5 GB

Battlefield 1 Day One patch: 2.4 GB

Madden 17 Day One patch: 4.5 GB

Mafia 3 Day One patch: 2.6 GB

Halo 5 Day One patch: 9 GB

Gears of War 4 Day One patch: 11 GB

Forza Horizon 3 Day One patch: 4.5 GB

Respawn have a long history of building well made shooters so it is definitely positive to see this news coming from the Titanfall 2 camp.

Titanfall 2 releases October 28th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
