Playtonic Games confirms: Yooka-Laylee has gone gold!

It’s official: Yooka-Laylee WILL come out in only a few months! Developer Playtonic Games confirmed today that Yooka-Laylee has gone gold and will release on April 11th! On their website, they discussed their latest developer hire, then discussed their Kickstarter beginnings and how the backers made this possible. Playtonic thanked their backers on making Yooka-Laylee a reality.

Playtonic seems eager to add life to the 3D Platform genre, which is something they’re fully capable of doing. Yooka-Laylee feels like a throwback to the simpler days of game design. The days where the journey and adventure were the focus, not the graphical fidelity or the deep, overarching themes. Considering the talent involved at Playtonic, there’s certainly a level of authenticity felt for this upcoming project. Besides, if there’s anyone who can start the resurgence of platformers, it’s the developers of Banjo-Kazooie and Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Judging by the previous trailers and gameplay shown, Playtonic seems to have a massive hit on their hands. Here’s hoping that gamers come out and support the latest product from the former kings of late 90’s platformers.
