David Vonderhaar has been doing the rounds on social media again this week and wound up in a thread on reddit regarding the possible addition of more prestige levels after Black Ops 3 is launched.
This is a practise that the inclusion or removal of will never keep everyone happy. Some hate reaching max prestige and then feeling like they have nothing left to achieve where as others slog it out week after week to achieve that glorious Master Prestige status only to turn around and see another 10 prestige levels added to the game.
In responding to a question asked by a user about the possible inclusion, Vanderhaar had this to say:
We are not fans of adding Prestige Levels after launch. We wanted Prestige to have an end goal and off ramp. It’s why we gave it a name (Master Prestige) and removed the level icon when you hit it.
We do think there is a room to do interesting things to highlight a Master Prestige player that keeps playing that is NOT adding more prestige levels.
It’s designed, but not implemented yet, and I don’t want to put my foot in my mouth in case it doesn’t happen for scope or schedule reasons.
This is one thing that we don’t really see any consistency with from the 3 leading developers, with each of them having their own variation to keep gamers interested and working towards a goal for longer than the initial 10 prestige levels.
What’s you take on this? Do you prefer to know that there will be more prestige levels on the way later in the game as you tend to breeze through them? Or would you like a clear cut end goal to work towards without the concern that it may change 3-6 months in?
