HoloLens confirmed for Xbox Live

Basically this week is the second biggest week in the gaming calendar with two days of GDC Europe kicking off events and then followed directly by Gamescom 2015.

Jaime Rodriguez has hosted today’s session at GDC: One game across PC, Phone, Xbox, and HoloLens, where he discussed the Xbox Live API being available for multiple devices such as Windows 10 PC, Windows Phone and HoloLens, as a part of the Universal Windows Platform.H3

The Xbox Live API is an integrated API which is available on the Xbox One and as a part of the Universal Windows Platforms has access to the API that allows for Xbox Live functionality across ALL supported platforms, including HoloLens.

Whilst the ability to play with your friends across the other side of the world via holographic technology is still quite some time off, it is entirely achievable now that the new Microsoft eco-system and Windows 10 are in play.

Over the coming months developers will receive HoloLens kits to enable them to start integrating this technology into their games which is where the ball gets rolling for this to be a more widely used and accessible feature for the future of online gaming.
