Comic Jumper Developer Twisted Pixel Is An Indie Studio Again

The Gunstringer

It appears that Twisted Pixel, the developer of Splosion Man, LocoCycle, Comic Jumper and The Gunstringer is splitting from Microsoft via a report from IGN.

Executive Producer at Twisted Pixel Bill Muehl had this to say about the split “This transition has been in the works for a few months, with both parties working together to lay the groundwork for us to spin out and become independent again. We’re looking forward to the new relationships and platforms this will open up to us and continuing our strong partnership with Microsoft on future titles for their platforms.”

Twisted Pixel has been a Microsoft exclusive studio since the company purchased the independent studio back in 2011. “We’ve always kept a background dialog open with them about the idea of returning to an independent studio model if the timing made sense for us”, says Twisted Pixel’s Josh Bear.

According to GameInformer Microsoft has said that Twisted Pixel will retain its intellectual property following the split. Twisted Pixel is a dynamic studio that creates great games so it will be interesting to what direction the studio takes in regard to their games now having the ability to be on other platforms.
