Dislike button for facebook is on the way!

Have you ever seen a comment or post on facebook that you thought was so off that it deserved a dislike? Well it looks like not only has CEO Mark Zuckerberg been listening to your feedback but has also had his team working on making that a reality.

During a Q & A session Mark Zuckerberg had a few things to say about this:

“People have asked about the ‘dislike’ button for many years, and probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it”

The idea isn’t meant to be what most people have intended it to be though, as I mentioned above the idea for a lot of people is clicking ‘dislike’ on something they read and disagree with. What facebook have in mind is something slightly different with the intention being that you will be able to “express empathy” with your fellow facebookers.

There are many times when you will see a friend going through a rough time via their status updates and clicking ‘like’ on that post seems inappropriate as if to say that you find satisfaction in their discomfort. This new ‘dislike’ system will be at its most affective during situations such as these.

There is no release date set out just yet for when this roll out will occur however we will most certainly update you when we learn more.
