Reports of a PlayStation 4.5 have been circulating for a few weeks and now according to IGN the Wall Street Journal is citing that sources familiar with the situation are reporting that an upgraded PS4 console will “be announced before the planned October release of the PlayStation VR.”
The Wall Street Journal’s source is also reporting that “it is likely that the current model and the coming one would share the same software catalog”, despite the higher-powered hardware. Sony has not officially commented on plans for a new hardware model but it’s rumored PS 4.5 will have an upgraded GPU and CPU that will improve power, and will turn PlayStation VR into a more high-end experience.
