I think we are about to see a wave of these events popping up across the world. London based fitness club, Virgin Active Walkbrook fitness, have planned out a 5K run (just enough distance to hatch an egg or two) led by a licensed fitness instructor to take groups of people on a guided ‘tour’ through London and past waterways including several Pokestops, to collect a variety of different Pokemon whilst getting fit at the same time.
We have seen a variety of interesting tactics used by companies to capitalize on the Pokemon GO craze, including casting out lures to increase the amount of time patrons stay and continue to consume their products, to shameless self-promotion that various rare Pokemon exist within their premises.
I don’t think anyone would have foreseen that Pokemon GO would have been the absolute smash hit that it is, however I am extremely pleased to see at least one company using it for what it was intended, to get people out in the fresh air and exercising. Good work Virgin Active, you will most likely be pioneering a wave of many more of these guided tours across the world.
