The Gears of War bundle has been officially confirmed by Microsoft’s own Aaron Greenberg:
Reported by mashable.com, the console will come with the Gears of War 4 Ultimate edition and will give players early access to the game on October 7th.
Gamescom is an annual video game trade show hosted in Cologne, Germany. It is scheduled to run from August 18th through the 24th. Last year, Microsoft had a large briefing at Gamescom where they showed first gameplay of Quantum Break, teased Crackdown 3’s destructible environments, and announced a sequel to the real-time strategy game Halo Wars. Unfortunately, for this years conference, Microsoft has officially confirmed they will not be holding a briefing.
Instead of a briefing, Microsoft has stated they will be focusing on a more intimate “FanFest Experience”. Attendees of Gamescom will be able to get hands on time with the upcoming 2016 and 2017 releases. These titles include Halo Wars 2, Forza Horizon 3, Sea of Thieves, ReCore, Cuphead, and We Happy Few. Sony and Nintendo have not confirmed their plans for Gamescom as of yet. Last year, Sony did not attend Gamescom in order to focus on their Paris Games Week event. Nintendo did not hold a press conference at this years E3 and it is doubtful they will hold one at Gamescom either.
Shortly after announcing a lack of a briefing for Gamescom, images of a limited edition Gears of War Xbox One S console bundle has been leaked on Twitter. The rumored console will be a limited edition crimson red color with the Gears logo on it and will come with a two terabyte hard drive and Gears of War 4. It is rumored to be announced at the Gamescom conference and estimated retail price is $449. This has not been officially confirmed yet by Microsoft and is still considered a rumor.
