Thanks to Brexit – HTC Vive to Get Price Hike in UK

Oh things will be fine they said. The UK will prosper they said. Things will only improve they said. Well is this improving? Is this better? No. No it isn’t.

HTC are a global company, they sell their products around the world, the UK is a part of that world, and to ensure that they don’t lose money, HTC monitor currency values, most likely against the US Dollar, and since Brexit last month, the GB Pound has plummeted to levels not seen in my lifetime (literally). On their official blog they announced the following:

“HTC continuously monitors and adjusts pricing to ensure we are providing our customers with the best value possible.  Due to recent currency valuation changes and the current value of the GBP we are adjusting the price of the HTC Vive in the UK to £759 + P&P.  The adjustment will come into effect on Monday 1st August.”

That’s a £70 hike from it’s current price of £689, just over 10%. And they nicely gave us all of 3 days to take advantage of the lower price, so yeah…thanks for that HTC.

Oh well, I’m sure when the UK gets all prosperous we can look forward to the lower prices coming back…
