Fans of the Mass Effect franchise were disappointed earlier this year to learn that the next entry in the series was pushed back to 2017.
Neither publisher Electronic Arts or developer Bioware have publicly set a release date for Mass Effect Andromeda, saying only that it will arrive in “early 2017.” Yet popular shopping website Amazon.com recently updated the order page for the product, stating the release date as March 31, 2017.
The date from Amazon.com could easily be a placeholder. March 31st is the last day of the first fiscal quarter in 2017, and Amazon.com may be playing it safe by listing the latest possible date for a Q1 release.
Yet, the website hasn’t done the same for other games anticipated to be released in the same window. For example, Injustice 2 is due out the same quarter, but Amazon.com lists its obviously-placeholder release date as December 31, 2017.
Perhaps Mass Effect Andromeda will be released sooner or later than the date on Amazon. What is for certain is that we can expect an update (and hopefully a confirmed, solid release date) for Mass Effect Andromeda on Bioware’s “N7 day,” which naturally falls on November 7th.
We’ll keep you posted on the latest developments on all things Mass Effect.
