Previous Yakuza Games Could Be Remade for PS4

Game producer stated that such a premise is considered by SEGA

The Yakuza franchise has now been around for about 10 years and SEGA is keeping it alive and strong. Releasing on Sony’s flagship console is a prequel game (Yakuza 0) and a sequel (Yakuza 6) coming in the next year.  It seems that this might not be all for the open-world games franchise.

According to the game producer, Toshihiro Nagoshi, SEGA is considering bringing over Yakuza 2, 3, 4 and 5 for the PlayStation 4 also.  The developer and publisher of the games already tested the market for such a thing by remaking in Japan a  the first game, titled as Yakuza Kiwami.  The game was released on both PS3 and PS4, and it was a commercial success.  It landed on the first and second spot of the best selling games of the week on their release and it received positives reviews.  There are no confirmations as of now for a Western release of the remake.

With a Western release of Kiwami, the suggested future remakes, and the 2 already announced games, the possibilities of having this very popular franchise that spanned over a decade and 3 generations of consoles could be regrouped under one roof.  This idea makes me very happy.  Would you like this project to be true ? Would you play the Yakuza games again? Discover them all for the first time? Let us know in the comments and forums.
