Mass Effect Andromeda 4K Trailer and Ryder Family reveal…

First let me start by getting this little bit out of the way. OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD I LOVE MASS EFFECT!!

Right, now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, I can carry on like a normal person. Although, to me, a normal person should get just as excited over Mass Effect: Andromeda. BioWare have just recently released an official 4K trailer (using the PlayStation 4) on YouTube, with BioWare General Manager Aaron Flynn narrating. Take 3 minutes out, put your feet up and watch just how stunning Mass Effect: Andromeda is going to look.

Did you hear it?? Did you hear at the very end of the trailer? That slight note from Vigil? Goosebumps – every, damn, time. The trailer shows off a little bit of the game, in its pre-alpha stage and it looks completely beautiful, a lot of the sounds in the trailer have a slight familiarity to them – some of the floating…things, sounded a bit like the Geth and at the end of the trailer, there was even slight Reaper like sounds. The way you can scan your surroundings and the way in which the game was flowing so smoothly is a great sign for me that Mass Effect: Andromeda, when released is going to be nothing short of amazing.

“But hang on Rich…” you say quizzically, “The title of this article mentions the ‘Ryder Family’, what about them?”. To which I reply, to you, intrepid Real Gamer, you have yet to read the rest of this article and it’s glorious greatness about Mass Effect: Andromeda, now sit down and scroll down.

In a video for PlayStation Access on YouTube, Holly Bennett was watching through the above trailer with Mac Walters, the Creative Lead on Mass Effect: Andromeda, with some impressive reveals a plenty. The first being that in the E3 Trailer we saw the female version of the protagonist known as Ryder in Mass Effect: Andromeda, whereas in the above 4K trailer we see the male Ryder. But unlike in the original trilogy, they aren’t different gender versions of the same person, they are siblings. As Mac Walters explains in the PlayStation Access video…

“At E3 we got to see the female Ryder character, and now we’re seeing the male Ryder character. What a lot of people don’t know – a little surprise here – is that these 2 are brother and sister and they both exist in the game world at the same time. And so if you’re playing as the sister Ryder, the female Ryder, your brother is somewhere in the universe.”

But that’s not all folks, you remember the original trailer from a couple of years ago? Where you saw that N7 suited guy running and jumping about the place? Well that’s clearly the male-brother-Ryder right? Wrong.

“Another fun little tid-bit is the character we saw 2 E3’s ago, the N7 is actually their father. So we’ve got the full Ryder family sort of now revealed.”

So there you have it, play as male Ryder and you might bump into your sister, and visa versa. Just don’t annoy your sibling, or your Pop-Pop N7 will have something to say I have no doubt!

The next major Mass Effect: Andromeda reveal will come as expected on November 7th – N7 Day – as announced on the official Mass Effect Twitter feed.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is released in March 2017 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. I don’t know about you, but this is the one game above all others that I’m looking forward to.
