The creators of the critically acclaimed Jotun, Thunder Lotus Games, have today announced their latest game, Sundered, which will be due for release in 2017 on PC (and Mac & Linux) and PlayStation 4. Check out the announcement trailer below.
A Press Release obtained by Real Game Media states the following about the game:
“Sundered is a horrifying fight for survival and sanity, a hand‐drawn epic from the creators of Jotun. You play Eshe, a wanderer in a ruined world, trapped in ever‐changing caverns teeming with eldritch horrors. Harness the power of corrupted relics to defeat gigantic bosses, at the cost of your humanity. Resist or Embrace. Coming 2017.”
Creative Director and President of Thunder Lotus Games, Will Dubé, stated that “Sundered is a game that builds on the strengths of Jotun: hand‐drawn art, epic boss battles and great immersion. With Sundered, we’ve added more complex mechanics, tons of replayability and meaningful choices. Finally, we’ve gone into a darker universe, heavily inspired by Lovecraft’s writings.”
From what I’ve seen of Sundered, it looks like a dark, action packed platformer that will keep you playing just “5 minutes more”. I’m a huge fan of beautiful games, and this looks like a damned beautiful game. I cannot wait to see more of this and I cannot wait to get my hands on it when it’s released next year.
