Something For The Weekend – FTL: Faster Than Light

It really has been a week already since the last Something For The Weekend, and this weekend I bring you a game of frustration, skill, tactics and a little bit of luck. This weekend, I bring you – FTL: Faster Than Light.

FTL is a top down, rogue-like, real-time strategy game pitting you and your trusty crew against seemingly the entire universe as you try to get away from advancing Rebels and their armada of ships hell-bent on destroying you and everyone else they come across. Check out the trailer for FTL: Faster Than Light Advanced Edition below.

FTL: Faster Than Light Advanced Edition (the Advanced Edition being a free upgrade) has been out for just over 4 years now, and remains as fresh and challenging as it was when it was first released, for those who haven’t played it – trust me, it’s a solid title well deserving of it’s various perfect scores and although it is notoriously difficult, it is such good fun trying to get through the whole game it really will challenge your skills in project management, resource management, tactics and patience!

For those of you who have played it, you know what you’re getting into. A little session of FTL can soon turn into a full blown, wearing the same underwear for 3 days straight, cat missing under a pile of pizza boxes marathon in which you’ve played the game 4,000 times and actually completed it once. On easy. Accidentally.

FTL: Faster Than Light Advanced Edition is available on PC (through Steam and GOG.com) and on iPad (iPad 2 and newer).

What do you think about FTL: Faster Than Light? Is it still kicking your backside 4 years after release? Let us know what you think in the comments below, the RGM Forums or on Twitter.
