Xbox One Users Spend the Most Time Gaming

Newly released figures show Microsoft's score tops for play time

A newly released set of figures has revealed the gamers who spend the most time gaming on their consoles.

Reporting on the figures, Global Web Index, have revealed that Xbox One users (aged between 16-64) spend more time gaming than their current-gen counterparts. Xbox One users, on average, spend two hours and 27 minutes playing games on a daily basis. Coming in second are Nintendo Wii U gamers, spending just a minute less than Xbox One players, on average. Perhaps surprisingly, PlayStation 4 gamers spend less time than this, clocking in at an average of two hours and 15 minutes playing games daily. The last gen consoles rank after these, but this seems logical, given many people have upgraded to current-gen machines.

Of course, with the PlayStation 4 having sold substantially more than the other two consoles, it stands to reason that the average gaming time will be diluted by those gamers who do not use it as often, or use the console primarily for other functions such as streaming or Netflix and chill. Though there could be more games out there that Xbox One and Wii U owners are playing at the moment, after some high-profile games release recently and with the backlash of No Man’s Sky it is possible that people are enjoying their games more on Xbox One and Wii U.

Speculation of course, it could be the complete opposite if the figures were pulled tomorrow. Plus, how many people are playing offline? Presumably those figures can’t be obtained. So many factors come together when looking at who is playing and for how long. So many factor’s in life get in the way too.

What do you think? Can much be made of these figures, or does the nine minutes average difference mean very little? Let us know in the comments below or on the RGM Forums.
