For Honor Developer Promises Single-Player Campaign is a “Full Experience”

There’s been a lot of hype surrounding Ubisoft’s action-heavy For Honor and there are plenty of reasons for it. The chance to have vikings, samurai, AND good old fashioned knights go head-to-head in battle is too delightful to pass up.

Although the majority of press for the game has honed in on the game’s multiplayer, For Honor’s developers want it to be known that single-player will be equally as substantial.

While speaking with Gamespot about the game, creative director Jason VandenBerghe expressed the team’s goal in delivering a satisfying single-player experience.

“It’s a full story campaign, a cinematic adventure where you will play as the knights first as the Warden, then you play as the Raider, then you play as the Orochi… You’ll play all through three different regions; the knights’ homeland, the viking homeland, and the samurai homeland. You’ll go on this great adventure… We built the campaign so that if you bought the game just for that, that you would be satisfied even if you never went online and played multiplayer. It’s intended to be a full experience.”

This is great news for gamers as it helps put some minds at ease who were worried that this game wouldn’t be a $60 experience. All too often the single-player components are cast aside and forgotten in favor for multiplayer as that’s where microtransactions can be easily placed. That’s without even considering that many games that are multiplayer-centric games like Battlefront have had immense success without a true main campaign.

For Honor and its developers seem to be going the extra mile to guarantee player’s enjoyment, and if they can stay true to their word and maintain a satisfying experience in both single-player AND multiplayer, then this is something gamers will have to keep their eye on. For Honor comes out February 14th, 2017.
