Tim Miller Springs from Deadpool to Sonic the Hedgehog

You could say that he moves quickly?

Who’s excited for Deadpool 2? I am, I am, I am!!!

Guess who isn’t? Tim Miller. Though, we already knew that he had left after creative differences with Wade Wilson himself, actor Ryan Reynolds. There are several rumors doing the rounds that Miller left due to a dispute over the choice of who will play Cable in the upcoming sequel. It is also rumored that there was a conflict over vision for the film, with Miller reportedly wanting a big budget film, something which Reynolds (and presumably FOX) is reportedly against.

So what is Miller going to do now that he has turned his back on the smart-talking 4th wall breaking renegade? Direct a Sonic the Hedgehog movie of course?!

The Hollywood Reporter has detailed this new information, stating that Miller has been lined up to produce a family oriented part computer generated, part live action film. Miller is reported to be working with some notable name, including producer Neal. H. Moritz (of Fast and the Furious fame).

If you had told my 10-year-old self that a Sonic the Hedgehog movie would be coming out, I probably would have jumped higher than Sonic himself (relative to his size and gravity on Mobius of course!). Now, I am decidedly trepidatious at the concept. Sonic’s most recent outings haven’t exactly set the world on fire, despite his continued popularity.

I am willing to keep an open mind on the film, however, given the potential pf the source material (just think about what there is to work with) and the fact that the director who helped make Deadpool a reality definitely means Sony Pictures may have a hit on their hands.

Both Deadpool 2 and the Sonic the Hedgehog movie are lined up for a 2018 release.
