Tomb Raider film to be inspired by recent reboot series

Video game movies don’t usually work, but Tomb Raider just might be the one.

I’m personally a huge fan of the Crystal Dynamics reboot series. Tomb Raider created something new and interesting that Rise of the Tomb Raider only further built and expanded upon.

Somewhat recently, it was announced that there will be a Tomb Raider film, starring Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) as Lara Croft, and directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave, Cold Prey). I wasn’t too keen on this idea. The last two times there were movies based on the Tomb Raider series, they were…less than stellar.

I had very low expectations for this film. That was until I found out it was going to be inspired the recent games in particular.

Now, there’s no way to guarantee the quality of the film this early on, but I am interested now.

As I sat there, thinking of my dream Tomb Raider film, I asked myself: Could this be the movie that will break the bad game movie stereotype?

I really think the fast-paced action of the recent Tomb Raider games could create a harrowing film experience we will remember for years to come.

Let’s hope that this will be a great movie that Tomb Raider fans will love.
